FERNANDO BELFIORE & MAVI VELOSO & NICOLÁS ROSÉS & ISADORA TOMASI:

NO VOLVEREMOS A LA NORMALIDAD PORQUE LA NORMALIDAD ERA EL PROBLEMA or MOVEMENT STUDY FOR THE MARKET

“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. ... Like failure, chaos contains information that can lead to knowledge – even wisdom. Like art.”.

— Toni Morrison

This piece is inspired by Matías Segura’s artistic commentary to Santiago protests (October 2019) against fascism, privatization, and inequality. In Brazil, in the moment of writing this text, the state hasn’t had a Minister of Health for 19 consecutive days, while the current fascist government worries solely about the economy and has no effective plan to stop the pandemic – apart from emphasizing its genocide project. Movement study for THE MARKET is a part of the social sculpture series that included THE CAVE and THE FOUNTAIN. We will go to Spider with our tentacles – from Latin: tentaculum, meaning “feeler,” and tentare, meaning ‘to feel’ and ‘to try’. We’ll keep distance, but get involved. We’ll poetically disobey. And think. And move. And think. And move. Things will not return to normal and this is a political moment.

# anti- fascism, inequality, no to normality, radical change, social sculpture tarantella, think, disobey, decolonization
