JURIJ KONJAR & IRENA Z. TOMAŽIN & TOMAŽ GROM:
CONNECTIONS
Connections may occur, or not, they are knit, perhaps they are knit, but their constitutive elements – Jurij Konjar, Irena Z. Tomažin, and Tomaž Grom – tell us that a connection “will only knit a web if the spider allows it”. For the first time in this constellation, a dancer, a vocalist, and an instrumentalist come together. They don’t use improvisation only as a method, but as an active practice: The quiet dancing and the loud sonic body along with a radical body of voice on the crossroads or in potential frictions. However, this is not a conceptual project. Improvisation comes as a collaborative process of composing which develops through a dialogue between two performative mediums – music and dance. That which welcomes mistakes, slips, theatrical cathastrophes. Connections wish to be open, fluid, evasive, untameable, indefinable, unspeakable on all levels … contextually, thematically, formally, in terms of content, production, execution … Connections are and are not … disconnected.
