SONJA PREGRAD:
UTOPIA OF EXTENDED NOW AND HERE
To live within art. To enter, exit, enter again, why not, to be there, to eat, to tire oneself, to rest, all this is Utopia of extended now and here, a piece which should be perceived as a collective choreography of space.
Sonja Pregrad, who for many years has been researching utopias, has invited nine artist (DISCOllective, Tin Dožić, Teuta Gatolin, Andro Giunio, Marko Gutić Mižimakov, Lana Hosni, Vanda Kreutz, Branimir Norac, Josipa Štulić) to collaborate. Her question – how would you define an object of extended now and here? – propelled a creation of ten individual objects which expose ten poetics and aesthetics, histories and imaginations of the future. The objects can then begin a mutual, collective life.
Eleven hours of the installation is time for the pieces to patiently come together, insert themselves into space and time which they also design. The coming together of these individualities into a single environment causes a certain decomposition. A decomposition of hierarchies. This community of artistic objects pours itself over whoever comes into its vicinity. Sensitivity approaches, becoming a necessity.
